Coon Rapids Police Reserve

Coon Rapids Police reserves are led by Captain Cary Parks. The department has 18 hard working volunteers working approximately 50 details a year. The largest event is the Coon Rapids Fourth of July celebration at Sand Creek Park. This has all the reserves working at the event, directing traffic and monitoring the annual parade. This ambitious department also provides the evening security to Anoka Ramsey community college.

The reserves are community volunteers that donate thousands of hours. The Reserves started in November 1962 with 20 officers and keeps about the same compliment now. The reserves have over 40 years experience of being extra eyes and ears for the regular department. The proactive patrol of the reserves helps maintain the Parks and the Schools for the community to enjoy. Reserves have demonstrated their value last May with the multiple tornado touch downs in the city. The reserves were deployed to traffic control, protecting property and helped keep the community safe. This volunteerism helps to free up the regular officers where ever possible, thus saving the city money. The reserves are a valuable asset to their community and to the Coon Rapids Police Department.
