Unit Spotlight

Sherburne County Sheriff's Reserve Unit
+ The Sherburne County Sheriff’s
Department Reserve Unit was established over thirty
years ago. We are proud of the fact that one of our
members has been with the unit for more than twenty
six years and another for more than twenty years.
+ Presently, we have eighteen members
who contributed over thirty seven hundred hours of
service to the citizens of Sherburne County during
the year 2006, and for 2007 we will be over four
thousand hours.
+ The members of the Sherburne County
Sheriff’s Department – Reserve Unit have assisted
with the following activities during the past year:
security and traffic control during various
community activities, recreation enforcement (boat
and water, snowmobile and ATV), maintained security
at the scene of an airplane and helicopter crash,
directed traffic at several fatal automobile
crashes, recovered bodies from the Mississippi
River, search and rescue activities looking for
lost hunters and hikers in the federal and state
parks and forest in our county, sat on several meth
labs until they were cleaned up, provided security
checks of vacationing county residents homes and
businesses, and assisted other law enforcement
jurisdictions with various activities.
+ Our reserve unit prides itself with
a very high retention rate for our membership. And,
we credit that to the total support given the unit
by Sheriff Bruce M. Anderson and all the licensed
officers with whom we serve, and, who provide us
with the best training and opportunity to practice
our skills.
