About the MPROA

The Minnesota Police Reserve Officers Association was founded in 2000 by two officers that recognized a need for an organization to serve the unique needs of Minnesota’s ultimate volunteers. Reserve Lt. Kerrin Swecker and Reserve Officer Cindy Ryan of the Lakeville Police Department set out on a mission to form an association to do just that.  Their original vision continues to define the role of the organization: provide training, support, and recognition to Minnesota’s volunteer law enforcement officers.

Today, the MPROA represents over 1,000 reserve police officers and reserve deputy sheriffs from across Minnesota. We are one of the fastest growing state reserve law enforcement associations in the United States, thanks to an active and progressive leadership team and an overwhelming response from officers and agencies all over Minnesota.  The MPROA has launched several exciting new programs with more planned for the future.  The MPROA encourages its members to be active in their association by serving on committees or the board of directors and by bringing the services and resources of the MPROA to their agencies.

The MPROA is politically nonpartisan and does not endorse nor financially support candidates for elective government office. While the MPROA does take positions on public issues that directly affect our members and the law enforcement vocation in general, the MPROA is not a labor union or partisan interest group.  We believe that public safety is an issue of concern to all Americans and we intend to work closely with leaders at all levels of government to ensure that the public continues to be served as effectively as possible by the dedicated men and women of reserve law enforcement.

The MPROA is a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit corporation. Eligible contributions to the MPROA are tax-deductible for individuals and businesses.
